Club Celebration 24th March
Just a quick note to say well done to all those who made it to the clubhouse in order to
celebrate all things bright & beautiful.....and the Mighty Marden HC.

Events were led by those free-goal scoring hockey artisans the 1st XI although they met
their match when attempting to put youth before experience in a Boat race (see below).
Anyone who thinks they can sink a pint of Kent's finest Shepherd Neame Ale quicker than
hollow legs "the Fridge" or Nigel "I never open my mouth" Bardsley is sadly mistaken....

1st XI Award winners:

Champagne Moment – beating Canterbury

Goal of the Season – P Creelman vs Penguins

D*ck of the Year – N Greenwood/D Wickham

Player of the Year – N Greenwood

Boat Race – The Vets (dubious technique from Baxter)

Vets Cup
Please don't forget the season hasn't finished yet as the Vets travel to Holcs in
the semi-final of the Cup this Sunday 1st April - support welcome!

From the President Roger Day
'
Congratulations to the 1st XI on gaining promotion to the 1st XI Kent/Sussex Regional . It
makes me nostalgic for my playing days when the Russets were a force to be reckoned
with throughout Kent and Sussex, both on and off the field. However I was saddened to
find myself recently the youngest former player in the clubhouse on two consecutive
evenings - a Friday and a Saturday - when I remember that (without email or mobile
phones) our communicating was mostly done at the clubhouse bar. I realise that with the
advent of all weather pitches times have moved on, but now that the pressure is off and
with an early finish to the season, I do hope that some of today's very talented players
well decide to socialise in the clubhouse particularly on a Friday evening or a Sunday
lunchtime. I have been happy to contribute towards the festivities last weekend.' RD

CONGRATULATIONS!
Well done to you Sam, and all the 1stXI team,on your super win on Saturday and your
brilliant season. All MCHC members will be very proud of you all.
Love from, Jude Hughes (a chuffed vice-president)

Celebrations....
There is every possibility that the last Men's 1st XI game on 24th March will be followed by
some further celebrations of this year's achievements. Most sides have either early away
games or even a home game so please try and make it back to the clubhouse and join in
the fun.....

Tennis Courts
Can all sides playing at home please ensure that opposition teams DO NOT use the
tennis courts for their warm-up.

New Season training will start for 1sts, 2nds, 3rds, and Vets on Thursday 2nd August at
Marden with Clive Felton. Training will take place every Thursday throughout August, with
the plan being to hopefully move to Sevenoaks for the 1st and 2nd team squads in
