Mixed Team collect more Trophies!

The mighty Russets mixed team have won the Anchorians summer league trophy for the
second year running.  In a close-fought, verbal and physical final, we ground out a 2-1
win against Anchorians.  The mixed team have had a very successful summer, also
winning the Plate at the Wimborne festival in July.  Many thanks to everyone who turned
out to play this summer, especially Bob for umpiring for us.
Julian Haswell - Marden's very own Marathon man
Made it round in 4hrs 40 min in good shape, much better than how I finished the Vets
game at the weekend.  All I can say I what a fantastic experience in Dublin -  the support
from the crowds was unbelievable.  I have raised nearly £500 for my charity.

Website still open for anyone who would like to donate.

Many thanks

Club Dinner 28th March??

There is  a move amongst several players in the 3rds and Vets to organise a
Club/Teams Dinner on Friday  28th March ( just before the last game of the
season for most teams) Please make a note of the date  and keep 28.03.08 free.
Further details will be posted here as they are finalised.
If any player from the Ladies 1sts/2nds and Mens 1sts/2nds would like to help get
their team on board please email
Will Steel
Thanks to Tony & Pam
After about 10 years and due to changes at the Royal Mail, Tony – the regular Saturday
afternoon bartender – has had to give up this shift.  His help has been much appreciated
and he will still be involved occasionally.  However, as our Saturday evening patronage
has declined, John, our everlasting bartender, will now cover the afternoon session.  At
busy periods he will appreciate help from players.

Other changes include the retirement of Pam Preston at the end of the year.  Pam has
cleaned the clubhouse for over 25 years (and whose mother also served the club for a
long time) and, although not meeting the playing members often, her efforts behind the
scenes were certainly seen gratefully – particular after a hectic party.  We wish her well

As well as being open after home games, the bar is also always open on Friday evenings
from 7.00pm and at Sunday lunchtimes.  At other times the clubhouse (and bar) can
often be made available for use by members, although the club does gain useful income
by providing a meeting venue for outside bodies.
Subs

It has been noted from the annual subs list, quite a number of people in the Mens 1st,
some in the 2nd XI and a few in the 3rds and Vets have not paid their Hockey Subs.
Please can the Captains get this sorted ASAP, it's definitely easier for you guys to sort
this out rather than myself or David Eltringham, Clive B or Paul S and by filling in a
Standing Order saves the club money by doing so.
Next time you speak to your team or email them, please remind them to bring a Cheque
book or get them to fill out a Standing Order form attached to this email. Thanks NK

Come on guys - we're nearly at the mid-point of the season so there's no excuse for not
having paid up
