Club Dinner 28th March
A superb evening at the Club with over 40 members present to enjoy a superb Steak
Dinner and several entertaining speeches, plus one by Clive. Various awards were made
(but I'll need to have those confirmed in order to ensure I haven't missed anyone out) -
Particular credit for 1st XI Capt Sam Traill who refused to make any awards on the basis
that the 1st XI performances didn't merit any celebrations....something I'm sure they will
rectify following their 4-1 win at Burnt Ash the next day to secure survival!

Special mentions for Charlie & Will for their organisation and Tony for the food, plus
everyone else who helped serve it up and keep us both fed and watered  If anyone has
any photos/stories/messages of thanks whatever, get in touch!
Di Neeves Memorial Hockey Game and Fun Day.

Saturday 19th April 2008, starting at 2pm.
The day is starting with a couple of games of hockey, open to any ability, the more the
better, come and give it a go! (although numbers may have to be restricted if we get too
many!)

There will be bouncy castles for the kids plus big bouncy castles for the bigger kids!!
BBQ with salads, Raffle and Tombola and of course the bar will be open all day!!

The day is being organised to remember Di Neeves who unfortunately lost her life to
cancer last year and was a big part of Marden Hockey Club, the proceeds raised will be
evenly donated to Cancer Research UK and CLIC Sargent (Caring for Children and Young
People with Cancer).

The day will cost just £12 for adults and £3 for children, please could you forward this to
anyone you know who maybe interested in coming a long and supporting Cancer
Research UK and bringing everyone together for a really fun day for adults and children.

Let either myself or Pidge know how many tickets you would like at

KENT HOCKEY SURVEY

Dear  Hockey Club,

An independent study has been designed to understand the motivations of players -  as
to why they choose one club over another to be a member - within Kent's 'Hockey'
boundaries. This can range from location of club to level of competitive hockey. The
results of the study will help to determine such factors as player loyalty V personal
development or social V membership fees when considering club affiliation. Please could
you encourage your members to answer the 3 minute survey from the links below by
adding them to your clubs webpage, by captains email list if that is your preferred
system or posting the links on your club notice board. In understanding player migration
across the county, we may be able to determine areas club managers could find useful
in their quest for increasing membership. Please save the above email address, as
results of the survey (not players views, only demographics and reasons ie
geographical, coaching, membership fee etc) will be open to view after collation in May
2008, if you wish to view them.

As a gesture of thanks I have obtained a 10 % discount from Cotswold Outdoor, an
Outdoor clothing and equipment specialist company. All that take part will find the code
at the end of the survey. (Stores are located in Orpington, Maidstone and Tunbridge
Wells)

If you are not the correct contact, in this context,  then please accept my apologies for
this mail and pass it on to the relevent member. Email addresses have been taken from
your club website and Kent HA.

Many thanks for your support to this study.

Richard Young
